    To Fans,

Next week is when we know the worst of the worst and who's heads will fall. I am leaning that the Defense will be fully exposed and left on the field for at least 40 minutes of clock-time (like last year and this year ala Steelers).

Norv is partly to blame but will get a pass because he is responsible for the good on offense. Ron Rivera will get a pass because he is green and because of key injuries not in his control.

Since you can't fire owners or their sons, sole target will be bulls-eyed on the GM: A.J. Smith. He, like Norv, is brilliant with picks and personal on offense but it is on Defense that John Butler is sorely missed.

We have all of those less than stellar no.1 or no.2 round picks all over on defense that have bombed out and play like Northwestern against USC. You can add Merriman to the lot with his "just average" tackling and a big bagel for breakfast for his total sacks (what is with the Mohawk?). Lesson learned: Don't trust in college talent, get healthy seasoned veterans under 10 years in the league and pay them 1st round money).

Either they bring in a second G.M. with Defensive credentials or they thank constipation-faced A.J. for the 50% product or they (the Spanos') get cracking on the new G.M. My choice would be Mike Holmgren.

Football Championships are founded in solid, aggressive defenses. The Dynasty teams of the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and this decade all have that common ingredient.

If I know this and only love to observe and cheer for my Chargers, when will the team know?
