League play will get started in earnest this week throughout San Diego Section, and there are some anticipated matchups on the horizon. Before long we’ll see LCC and Escondido go head-to-head (Oct. 30th), Bonita Vista battle Eastlake (11/6), and Valley League showdowns like Ramona/Valley Center (10/30), Valley Center/Oceanside (11/6), and Ramona/Oceanside (11/13). The top four spots in our NC Times/619 Sports Prep Top 10 poll have been in a virtual lockdown all season, and with half of the Top 10 in a bye week last week, there was bound to be little change this week. League play could shake things up considerably.

This week we will feature a couple of key league showdowns as our 619 Sports Prep Game(s) of the Week. #12 Mission Hills (4-1, ranked 12th) will face #2 La Costa Canyon (5-0) in the Avocado League opener for both teams. Meanwhile, traditional powers battle in the Western League as #9 Mission Bay (6-0) takes on Point Loma (3-2). We also plan to have coverage of #3 Cathedral Catholic (5-0) in their Eastern League opener at Lincoln (3-1-1).
