Cathedral’s winning streak was stopped at 28 thanks to a late Lincoln comeback, while Escondido had to rally for a last-minute tie at Torrey Pines. Those surprise results have allowed Eastlake and Valley Center to make a big move in the latest Top 10 poll (first place votes in parentheses):

I was impressed again by LCC’s defense, balance, and speed on Friday night, and despite their gaudy wins against weaker opponents I’m really starting to wonder if Oceanside could hang with LCC offensively. The Pirates still got my #1 pick this week but in my mind the Mavericks are gaining.
