619 Sports is teaming up with Matt Vasgersian’s 3rd annual Texas Hold’em Charity Poker Tournament to give you a chance for glory on the felt and on the web! The tournament, taking place this Friday (11/13) at the Hall of Champions, will benefit Tender Loving Canines and the Champion Sports Academy. Players will be rubbing elbows with local athletes and celebrities while battling in a no-limit Texas Hold’em tournament. The entry fee is $200, with some terrific prizes, a silent auction of great baseball memorabilia and more, well worth it for a fun night’s entertainment and a great cause.
But for being a regular follower of 619 Sports, you get a chance to win your seat in the tourney from us! We have two seats to give away in our Aces Or Rags Contest, and here’s how the contest will work:
It’s midseason now, the Chargers having completed 8 games by Sunday’s end. We want to know: who are the “aces” on this team that the Chargers need to hold, and who are the “rags” (weak cards, if you’re not a poker player) that need to be tossed into the muck?
Send us (contest@619sports.net) your best twisted Chargers-to-poker analogies, your smartest analysis in a creative presentation, keep it clean, and keep it to 300 words or less. We will select the top two responses (it’s our decision, no whining) and present them on 619Sports.Net on Wednesday. If we pick your entry, that puts you at the poker table on Friday night!
For obvious reasons, this contest will be restricted to those who are in the geographical area of San Diego, because we really, really want you to actually show up and play with the seat you win. Please include your name and location with your entry, along with contact info. There will be great prizes on the line and this is a terrific event, so don’t waste your time and ours if you can’t make it.
All entries must be submitted to contest@619sports.net by no later than Wednesday afternoon, 1pm. No, that’s not a lot of time. Yes, you need to hurry up and get cracking! By submitting your entry to us, you agree to allow us to excerpt your submission and post it on 619Sports.Net as we see fit.
Tell us who are the “aces” on the Chargers at the halfway point and who are the “rags”, and maybe I’ll be sitting right next to you on the felt this Friday night! If so, please just fold when I raise…it’s so much easier that way.
