With one week left in the high school regular season, there are three 9-0 teams in our 619 Sports/NC Times Top 10 Poll, and four unbeatens.  The logjam at the top has been unchanged for weeks, with Oceanside & LCC receiving the same number of #1 votes and hanging next to each other 1-2 in the poll.  Valley Center’s resounding 45-7 loss on Friday sent it tumbling in the poll, while Escondido’s second straight loss almost dropped them out altogether.  Mission Bay, Vista and Valhalla, meanwhile, are rising.  Without further ado…

Here’s this week’s Top 10 (first place votes in paretheses):

  1. Oceanside (17), 9-0
  2. La Costa Canyon (2), 9-0
  3. Eastlake, 7-0-2
  4. Cathedral Catholic, 8-1
  5. Mission Bay, 9-0
  6. Ramona, 8-1
  7. Vista, 7-2
  8. Valley Center, 8-1
  9. Escondido, 6-2-1
  10. Valhalla, 7-2

Also receiving votes: Mission Hills, Francis Parker, Brawley, Madison, Rancho Bernardo, Chula Vista

There are still a couple of league titles to be decided, with rivalries and revenge games on the schedule for Friday.  After the jump, we reveal this week’s selections for the 619 Sports Prep Games of the Week, along with the 619 Sports Top 10 ballot:

This week, 619 Sports will cover two key games, each with league titles up for grabs.  Our Game of the Week will be in the South Bay, where Chula Vista (6-3, 4-0) battles #3 Eastlake (7-0-2, 4-0) for the Mesa League crown.  Spartans Senior quarterback Victor Perez will try to keep up with the explosive Titans and UCLA-bound running back Tony Jefferson.

Meanwhile, in Oceanside the #1 Pirates (9-0, 5-0 Valley League) will host #6 Ramona (8-1, 4-1) with revenge on their mind.  Last year the Bulldogs were the only team not to lose to the Pirates, pulling out a 33-33 tie on their home field.  This year Oceanside has the home field advantage and a desire to give John Carroll his first true 10-0 regular season (a previous 10-0 year included a forfeit).

Here’s this week’s 619 Sports Top 10 ballot:

  1. Oceanside
  2. LCC
  3. Eastlake
  4. Cathedral Catholic
  5. Mission Bay
  6. Ramona
  7. Vista
  8. Valhalla
  9. Valley Center
  10. Chula Vista

I see Olympian High is not getting the respect they deserve, in the three year in varsity exsistance. They are 9-0, won their league out right and will be making a bid for a undefeated season this Friday. I say that's extrodinary for a program only three years old.

I wonder why they can't get the respect. Looking at strength of schedule SFC high plays 4 Div. V teams, 2 Div. 4 teams, 2 Div. 3 teams and 1 Div. 2 team, but they are in better seed for playoffs. It doesn't matter how long you've had your program it should be about records and strength.

Can Olympian get some respect, they deserve it.
