In a 619 Sports exclusive, outgoing Padres’ vice president of scouting and player development Grady Fuson talks for the first time publicly about his firing.  Who forced him out, Jed Hoyer or Jeff Moorad?  Was Fuson fired for his failed first-rounders?  And how proud is he of the system he leaves behind?  A wide-ranging interview with a good baseball man who’s on the outside looking in:

Very nice interview. I still think its strange that somehow Grady was not given more credit for turning around the system. Also the early drafts that he did had to be much different than what he was doing now because the talent was so thin.

His first duty was to get something in the cupboard, which is why he focused more on college guys and was moving more towards high school players at the end.

However if they had to replace Grady with anyone, Jason McLeod is a very good choice.
