Which immature Chargers stars should stay, and which should go?  Is this the end of the line for L.T. and Merriman in San Diego?  And what positions should the Chargers focus on with their early picks in the 2010 draft?  Chris and Craig get a leg up on a busy offseason with this 619 Sports Chargers podcast:

    1. Nose Tackle. Either Dan Williams or Terrance Cody. One of the two are ESSENTIAL
    2. Running Back - we need a power back with some breakaway speed, that's the best fit in a wide open offense. Toby Gerhardt or Ryan Matthews. Could be had in the second after using your first on one of the above
    3. Defensive End - I'm not happy with Castillo, and with the exception of Martin who's a ways away from being ready, I don't see much of anything in the DL corps.
    4. Offensive Tackle - Dombrowski is a perfect LT/RT backup. Clary played better but I'd like to look at someone who could play next to Vasquez and just road grade people
    5. Pass Rusher - based on what you said in the podcast, Phillips is on very thin ice and merriman's likely gone. Get someone else to team with English.
  • Tolbert is good with the run but he's not the blocker Neal was. Oline needs a couple of new hogs. LT's production is limited due to the blocking scheme, not becuase he's a grandpa. Granted he's not gonna produce as optimally but without blocking whats the worth of a RB. C'mon its not like Sproles or any one else made production. Dont need to draft RB high, you can sign one too- its not priority. DL is deep this year, you can find a strong nosetackle perhaps in Round 2 for Jamal back up. Cromartie is on the block - but you give him another year ...I think the one no one wants to talk about is Weddle... Weddle isnt the tackler we need in the Safety position. Ask Shonn Green as he ran through Cromartie and over Weddle. Cason is eagerly in the wings if you can shop Cro for a 1st and 3rd pick.
    Offense:
you improve the running game with an all pro Oline right tackle to left tackle. Sign Oline and perhaps draft one if theres an all american on the board
Draft/Sign 6'1-6'2 big ass FB for pure LT production, and to strengthen oline pass protection
    Defense:
Draft high (no lower than Round 2) for DT
Shop All Pro CRO if you can increase picks
    Draft an impact Safety
Trade Weddle for backup RB or kick returner -since Sproles is too expensive to keep.

The Chargers need an attitude adjustment. Norv has regressed in the playoffs every year and for him to get a 3-year extension is a joke. At what point will the Chargers as an organization realize that winning the west is not worth an extension or praise.

Until AJ starts to realize that just getting into the Playoffs is not enough (which is what he said when he Fired Marty after the 14-2 playoff season) this team is not going to go any where. The fans and the media have raised expectations of this team, but the organization seems very content just making it into the tournament.

AJ's drafts don't look as good today as they did a year ago, this team has many holes and could been in a worse position after next season. AJ is running this like a sinking ship ignoring the fact that it's downward trend is nothing to be concerned about. AJ has a Bethard like ego and just as the case was in the 90's, this team will go down with the GM.
