LaDainian Tomlinson confirmed on Thursday what most had suspected for a while now, telling the U-T that he’s “not coming back” to the Chargers next season.  Craig and Chris agree that the time has come for the Chargers and L.T. to part ways, but in their latest podcast, the 619 Sports guys wonder if the split could have been handled better, and if Tomlinson is taking enough responsibility for his reduced production:

Over the past couple of days there have seen some supportive tweets from Charger and LT fans on Twitter.  Wanted to share some of the best that were hash tagged with ThankYouLT!

This is no surprise and I've been waiting for it but I still got a little teary eyed when I saw the first Tweet about it. He will surely be missed, SD loves you #21!!
Go somewhere with a fullback and have a couple more 1500 yard seasons!

Well you can all thank LT all you want but we could have used him the two years in the playoffs when he was sitting on the sideline NOT helping his team. Yes he will be missed for first 6 years when he cared, not the last few years though...
  • You mentioned those comments LT made about not having fun and not feeling connected with the team. You should note that LT made these comments after he made comments during the season to the contrary about how great he's feeling, how its not about him but winning and how he has accepted his situation.

So which is it with him? This doublespeak is the most irritating of all regarding LT. I love him and everything he's done but this is a serious red flag.

Looks like LT was being a good teammate in the sense of not rocking the boat, even making public statements of support for his coach and offense. It's natural for star athletes to overrate their own abilities. Tomlinson never had a breakout game all year, he was mostly healthy but did not show signs of a return to form and at this point letting him go is an easy call. But I still wish and hope the Chargers will send him out with fanfare and a Jerry Jones-Emmitt Smith type of press conference, to honor him on the way out instead of seemingly kicking him out the door.

Many players never comment negatively about the team until after the end of the season, so there is nothing new here.

There should be no 'red flag' about LT. ; San Diego and true Charger fans shouold not tarnish # 21 because of everything he has done for the organization. Lorenzo Neal leaving defenitely affected LT''s game and keep in mind the type of back he is/was. The Chargers used him to beat the D-line. He was never used the way that Bush is used by the Saints.

LT is the Tony Gwynn of football and its a shame that the organization couldn't get this man a ring.

Lets not forget what he did for us in the past (including taking a pay-cut) and go badmouthing him.
