
Viejas Arena- For a second straight game, a dominant defensive effort led San Diego State to a crucial victory as the Aztecs topped No. 23 UNLV, 68-58 on Saturday. Malcolm Thomas, Billy White, and Kawhi Leonard set the early tone with blocks and active defense down low that led to big shots at the offensive end of the floor. SDSU (17-7; 7-4 MWC) needed a good showing against UNLV to solidify their case for the NCAA Tournament, and they answered the call. The first half of the game was marked with physical play and tough defense. The Rebels committed early fouls that put the Aztecs in the bonus, but both teams tightened up as the game went on.
