Chargers Focus On The Little Things In Practice

Post image for Chargers Focus On The Little Things In Practice

by Jeff Creps on January 7, 2010

In what felt like little more than a mid-season walk through, the Chargers practiced on Wednesday facing one distinct difference.

For the first time all season, they’re practicing with no knowledge of who their next opponent will be.

Although any team would gladly take an extra week of rest after a tough 16-game stretch, it must be noted that the Chargers last loss of the 2009 season came after their week five-bye to the Denver Broncos. Head coach Norv Turner pointed out that this bye week has a much different feel to it.

“I don’t know how to compare the two of them,” Coach Turner said after practice. “When you’re in the middle of the season, the bye is about getting away and getting some rest, it’s more mental. This is about doing some extra work in terms of preparation.” Continue Reading →

Post image for Weddle: The Long Road To A Title

by Chris Ello on December 20, 2009

Safety Eric Weddle remembers the feeling in the locker room after a Monday night loss to the Denver Broncos in October dropped the Chargers 3 1/2-games out of first place. As he told 619Sports.net in Sunday’s locker room, he liked the feeling a lot better after the Bolts clinched their fourth-straight AFC West title:

Chargers Can’t Afford A Turkey

November 28, 2009

ShareST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — Not too many people on this island care one way or another what happens to the Chargers this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Nobody’s concerned about the possible blackout, nor whether or not the Bolts will overlook their 3-7 division rivals.
What’s the point spread? Who’s injured? Where’s the [...]

Monday Proves Bolts Are For Real

October 22, 2009

ShareWhere to start?
Well, let’s at least start with this: there are 11 games left in the San Diego Chargers’ 2009 season, and thank God you fans aren’t running the show.
If you were, we know what you would do. Fire Norv Turner. Kick A.J. Smith’s egotistical behind to the curb. Trade that loud-mouth ex-star Shawne Merriman [...]

October 12, 2009

ShareRemember 1994?  If you can, you remember how magical a year it was for the San Diego Chargers.  It started with the very first game, when it looked like John Elway was going to march the length of the field at the end of the game to beat San Diego in Denver.  Then, the ball [...]

Today: Cornerbacks (tomorrow: Safeties)

Bunch ‘a Fun Stuff

March 4, 2009

ShareDon’t start….don’t even think about it…I know you want to mull it over….but don’t do it….
Terrell Owens to the Chargers??….I’d rather have it snow in Mission Valley.
Oh…you say it hasn’t crossed your mind yet??….Well don’t let it.
The only thing that has made Owens what he is (and that’s up for debate) is his freakish skills [...]

The Bolts Do Nothing. Good!

February 28, 2009

ShareI can hear all of you disgusted Chargers fans already…First day of NFL free-agency comes and goes, and the Bolts are on the sidelines.
“This organization sucks!!”
“They’re never willing to spend any money!!”
“No way I’m re-newing my season tickets!!””
“They want us to give ‘em money for a new stadium, but they don’t want to give us [...]
