Dillon Baxter

The Dillon Baxter show made a live appearance at Point Loma High School Friday Night.   But to the dismay of many Pointers fans, the episode was about the stud Mission Bay QB feasting on the Point Loma defense.

In the Western League opener, Baxter and the 9th ranked Mission Bay Buccaneers (6-0; 1-0) overwhelmed the Point Loma Pointers (3-3; 0-1) 49-27.

Whether running it up the gut or tossing quick bubble screens, Baxter was simply unstoppable.  He accounted for six of the seven total TDs scored by the Buccaneers and had over 300 all-purpose yards.

In a year where San Diego Section is brimming with Division I level talent, Mission Bay’s Dillon Baxter may be the best of all.  The do-it-all superstar of the Bucanneers is headed to USC after early graduation in December.  He’ll be playing QB tonight against Point Loma, and we’ll have complete coverage on 619 Sports, from live tweets during the game on our Twitter feed, to a complete postgame wrapup with interviews from the field.

619 Sports’ Dave Palet caught up with Dillon this week for a one-on-one interview:

Q: Who has been the most important person in your life?

A: My mom has been the most important person in my life. I’ve always played a lot of sports growing up and it was my mother who took time to drive me all my travel baseball and basketball games.  She’s always been the one to support me.

Q: How good is this year’s Mission Bay team?

A: We’re pretty good all around.  Our defense is strong at the linebacker and defensive back and on offense our line gives me time to run or get the ball into the hands of our talented wide receivers.

Q: You play 3 different offensive position for Mission Bay, do you have a favorite position?

A: Although I play mostly quarterback now, my favorite position is running back.

Dillon talks about a childhood accident, where he’ll start at USC and the players in San Diego he’d pay to watch after the jump: Continue Reading →
