QUALCOMM STADIUM–Leading Wyoming 27-6 after three quarters, the San Diego State Aztecs were in prime position to earn their 5th win, close out their home schedule on a high note, win on Senior Night, and stay in line for their first bowl appearance in 11 years.
Then came the fourth quarter.
A Cowboys stampede turned into an Aztecs collapse. Wyoming erupted for 24 unanswered points, blocked a field goal which would have iced the game for SDSU, and recovered a Hunter Hewitt fumble on a pooch kickoff with 2:07 to play. Ian Watts’ 43 yard field goal gave the Cowboys the lead with 23 seconds to play, and a last-gasp Hail Mary pass was knocked out of Roberto Wallace’s hands in the end zone on the game’s last play.
It all added up to a stunning 30-27 Wyoming win, dropping the Aztecs to 4-6 on the season.
SDSU head coach Brady Hoke was practically vibrating with anger after the game:

ESCONDIDO–On a night when Escondido’s Ricky Seale set the San Diego Section career rushing record, it was La Costa Canyon’s dominant ground game that set the tone for a 44-24 victory at Wilson Stadium. The 2nd ranked Mavericks (8-0, 3-0 Avocado League) rolled up 407 yards on the ground in a team effort, overcoming the singular brilliance of Seale, who carried 39 times for 212 yards and two touchdowns.
Seale electrified the boisterous home crowd in Escondido by eclipsing the section rushing record on the game’s first series, scampering 28 yards for a touchdown. That gave him 50 yards for the game and 5,651 yards for his career, one more than Demetrius Sumler of Cathedral Catholic. But while Seale kept the 5th ranked Cougars (6-1-1, 1-1-1 Avocado) close, once running 10 straight times on a drive out of the wildcat formation, eventually he wore down. After carrying 26 times for 178 yards in the first half, Seale was held to just 34 yards in the second half by the athletic “Gang Green” defense of LCC.
Ricky spoke about setting the section rushing record after the game:

ShareIn what head coach Darrin Brown called his team’s “most complete game of the season”, the #2 ranked La Costa Canyon Mavericks dismantled #12 Mission Hills 56-7 Friday night on the LCC campus. The Mavericks’ (6-0, 1-0 Avocado League) hurry-up offense never punted, and their first-team “Gang Green” defense sacked Mission Hills’ QB Hunter Moore [...]
ShareIt’s not often you get a playmaker as talented as Kenny Stills into your program, so La Costa Canyon (5-0) is doing whatever it takes to get Stills the ball. The senior wide receiver also lined up at running back and quarterback during a 38-14 bruising of Rancho Buena Vista (1-2-1) on the LCC campus [...]
