The Chargers began their week of practice on an encouraging note, as LaDainian Tomlinson and Louis Vasquez rejoined their teammates on the field, getting ready for the biggest test of a season that has already been testing.  The Pittsburgh Steelers may be 1-2, but that doesn’t have anyone fooled.  The defending champs are hungry, and they’re playing at home, a place where the Chargers haven’t won a regular season game since…well, since the game was invented.

Eric Weddle is hoping to make some new memories in Pittsburgh, because his old ones aren’t much good at all.  Who can forget the punt bouncing off Weddle’s head to help the Steelers hold the ball for virtually the entire 3rd quarter of the 35-24 season ending playoff loss?  Not Weddle, that’s for sure:

“From an injury standpoint, you saw the guys who came out of the game. Nick Hardwick has a sprained ankle, and he’ll be evaluated every day. I would not expect him to practice tomorrow. LT has a sprained ankle, he’ll be evaluated every day. I would not expect him to practice tomorrow. Louis Vasquez has a sprained knee. I would not expect him to practice tomorrow but again, it’s a day-to-day deal. Jamal Williams, he’s had issues with his elbow, he sprained it a little bit. Same deal, I would not expect him to practice tomorrow. Luis Castillo, sprained elbow, and I’d put him in the same category.”

How much confidence did you gain from the way you played against Atlanta?

“A gained a pretty good amount, coming out there playing fairly well with the older guys, especially alongside Hardwick and Dielman. It’s a great feeling, knowing I can come out there and compete, especially against a good opponent.”

Chargers beat Falcons, 24-27

August 29, 2009

ShareYeah, yeah…I know. The headline must be a misprint. But, honestly, it seems to best describe what we all saw Saturday night in Week 3 of the NFL’s Preseason — otherwise known as easily the biggest sham perpetrated on the American sporting public.
Week 3 is the one preseason game where we really get an idea [...]
