Shaun is giving away two tickets to Friday’s game on his Twitter feed.  Today he gives away three answers to 619 Sports.  The questions: Merriman’s return, his performance in ‘08, and his struggles in dominoes:

(due to NFL rules we had to take down the audio of Phillips’ 3 Q’s after 24 hours.  The transcript is below)

Are you happy to have Shawne Merriman back on your side this year?  Is that a silly question?

“That is a silly question.  Of course I’m happy to have my partner in crime back.  When you have a guy who’s one of the best players in the NFL if not THE best in the NFL, to have him back on the field will be a major boost for us.”

Do you ever get frustrated when people say, “well, Shaun Phillips gets his job done because Shawne Merriman’s out there”?

“I’ve never heard anyone say that, but the proof’s in the pudding.  You can put the film on and you can pull the stat book out, and it is what it is.   As long as we win, everyone else can have all the credit, except for me.”

How would you rate your performance last season, and what are you looking at personally this season to try and take your game to another level, or the defense to another level?

“My performance last year was definitely one of my best.  People look at statistics, and statistically it wasn’t one of my best.  But, I was up in a lot of categories other than sacks.  Everything else I was up in, and…I don’t give myself personal goals.  Football’s the only sport you can’t give personal goals, because it’s such a team sport.  It’s not basketball, it’s not boxing, it’s 11 men who have to be on the same page at the same time.  So, if I had to give a personal goal, it would be to do what I can to help the team win football games.”

Can Eric Bakhtiari beat you in dominoes?

“Eric Bakhtiari performs massive amounts of…(Eric: Yes!)…Yes, he can beat me in dominoes, but…(Eric, laughing: $500!)…3 to 1!  3 to 1!”
