CHULA VISTA–A team starting the season unbeaten in its first seven bouts is rather impressive.  A Division-IV high school football team three years since its incipiency starting 7-0?  Well, that’s downright remarkable.

Friday night in Chula Vista, playing for first place in the South Bay League, the Olympian Eagles (7-0; 4-0) carried out a 27-14 victory over the Aztecs of Montgomery High (4-4; 3-1).

On the school’s first ever homecoming game, the Eagles used a heavy dose of the run and some solid defensive play to dance to their 8th straight regular season victory.  Running backs Ian Autman and Alex Cornist handled the ball for most of the night, combining for 35 carries; still, the Montgomery defense couldn’t seem to bring them down when it counted.

September 5, 2009

ShareTrying to think of the best way to quantify the Chargers’ easy 26-7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Friday night’s preseason finale at Qualcomm Stadium.
Came up with this: it doesn’t exactly make up for Super Bowl XXIX.
Of course, on that evening in January of 1995, the evening of the Bolts’ only Super Bowl [...]
