USD all-time leading rusher J.T. Rogan covered the Holiday Bowl for 619 Sports along with Jeff Creps.  Here’s J.T.’s analysis of a dominant night for Nebraska football:

Perhaps feeling slighted following their controversial Big 12 championship loss to national championship game participant Texas, Nebraska showed no mercy in dismantling Arizona 33-0  in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl. A crowd of over 64,000 fans witnessed what very well may have been the re-emergence of Nebraska Cornhusker excellence.

The Cornhuskers put together an outstanding team effort while dictating the pace of the game through domination on offense, defense and special teams. Nebraska had allowed 10.7 points per game in their last seven games, and they may have saved their best defensive effort of the season for their last game. Continue Reading →

Things are unquestionably better around the San Diego State football program.  How much better may be revealed on Saturday night, when the Aztecs (4-4, 2-2 MWC) face by far their toughest test of the season.  TCU (8-0, 4-0 MWC) is ranked 4th in the coaches’ poll and 6th in the latest BCS standings, and with good reason.  The Horned Frogs have no apparent weakness, says SDSU head coach Brady Hoke:

 

Hoke’s complimentary words are borne out by the statistics.  Just what do you try to stop against TCU?  An offense that’s ranked in the top 15 nationally in yards and points per game?  A rushing offense that’s in the top 10 in the country?  A defense that is ranked #1 in the country in total defense, #3 in scoring defense, #6 in rushing defense, #8 in passing defense, and #9 in sacks?  Or a return game that’s top 10 in both kickoff and punt return average per game?

Oh, and then there’s the TCU team speed.  As in, everywhere you look.  Hoke compared it to a great team he faced as a Michigan assistant:
