Division III: Cathedral On Top Again

The younger Early scored on a 63-yard catch and run with 3:59 remaining to lift Cathedral to a 20-14 victory and its third-straight San Diego Section championship. Heart-broken Point Loma, which appeared on the verge of a major upset leading 14-6 after three quarters, suffered its fourth title-game loss in the last five years.

CIF Playoffs D-I: Jefferson’s 3 TDs carry Eastlake to the Q

December 5, 2009

The ball found its way into Tony Jefferson’s hands most of the night and the Eastlake Titans (10-0-2) defeated the Cougars of Escondido (8-3-1) 35-14. The win sends the Titans to the D-1 final against Vista under the bright lights of Qualcomm Stadium.

The Cathedral Catholic Dons displayed for 48 minutes that they were the superior team, routing the rival Saints 42-3 at Manchester Stadium on Friday night. The Dons advance to Qualcomm Stadium for the third straight season, where they will battle Point Loma for the D-III Championship at 1pm on Friday.
