After capturing the Mountain West Conference tournament in dramatic fashion over UNLV, the San Diego State Aztecs had nothing to sweat about during Selection Sunday.  The only questions were: seeding, location, and opponent.

The answers: #11, Providence, Rhode Island, and Tennessee.

It’s not a fan-friendly trip for Aztecs supporters, but the Volunteers present a challenging but beatable opponent.

After learning their fate, members of the SDSU basketball team met with the media to talk about their amazing tournament championship, and the quest to pick up the Aztecs’ first win in the NCAAs.

Aztecs’ point guard D.J. Gay joined 619 Sports’ Craig Elsten to discuss his clutch, ironman performance in Las Vegas:

There’s no star power. Really? The Aztecs feature senior guard Jene Morris, who just so happens to be on the NCAA’s Preseason All-American team and has been named the Preseason Player of the Year in the Mountain West Conference. Alongside her is point guard Quenese Davis, who in just three seasons, is already far and away SDSU’s all-time assists leader. And underneath is junior center Paris Johnson, who was a two-time CIF Section Player of the Year while she was at San Diego High School.

Exhausted

March 7, 2009

Share I had a long day today, from 4 1/2 hours at Cunningham Stadium to another 4-ish hours waiting at the taxwoman’s office tonight.  But Yay Aztecs Win and Yay Tax Refund!  I am now home and ready to crash so I’m not going to write the post I intended.  But quite possibly tomorrow I [...]
