Following the Chargers leaves the follower with a lot of questions. Is this a championship team slowly rounding into form? An average team hanging on by its collective fingernails? At 5-3, the Chargers are off to their best start under Norv Turner. Then again, without two last-minute drives, they could be 3-5 and staring into the abyss.

RANCHO SAN DIEGO–On a night when the Steele Canyon (5-3-1) faithful showed their support for the final time to their seniors, Pete Thomas and the Valhalla Norsemen (7-2) stole the show to win their first-ever Division II Grossmont South League Title, 14-7 .
Thomas threw 12/20 for 207 yards with a TD, and rushed for another 32 in the win. Matthew Swanger made a few clutch catches down the stretch for Valhalla and finished the game with 41 yards.
The Norsemen offense came out running in the first half, a result Swanger attributed to a confusing Steele Canyon defense.
“They came out in a coverage that we really didn’t practice, so we had to make some adjustments and we came out of half time firing,” Swanger said after the win.
It didn’t take long in the third quarter for Valhalla to make a big play. After a crucial fumble on a long pass play by Steele Canyon, Thomas found receiver Jevon Hasten streaking down the field for a 65 yard touchdown pass.
